Born May 25, 1921 in Petah Tikva, fifth generation in Eretz Israel. In 1937, he joined Betar and a year later joined the Irgun.

During the Revolt, he was promoted: in 1945 he was in charge of the Irgun's national intelligence service, and the same year was appointed Commander of Jerusalem District.

While he was serving in Jerusalem, the Irgun carried out daring operations against the British: the second attack on the British Intelligence offices, the blowing-up of the King David Hotel, the attack on the Goldschmidt Officers Club and the Schneller camp.

In March 1947 he was arrested and sent to a detention camp in Africa. He returned home with the last exiles from Genya on July 12, 1948, after the State of Israel was established.
